Hi,
I had my hearing for SSD last Feb., the judge said at the beginning of the hearing we were not there to determine if I was disabled but to determine WHEN the disability began. I'm taking that as according to them I AM disabled? I'm so nervous that I may still be denied. I have known people that deserved it and got turned down.

I have called the local hearings office several times recently, they have sent my decision to the underwriters it has been returned to the judge for final review of underwriters work. They have been telling me for 3 weeks now I should hear something within the next two weeks.

I have posted on here not long ago and was told that I should call the local office, I did that. They also said to watch account for deposit too, I'm watching that, maybe too much, lolol, it just keeps getting smaller, lol.

My question is: Will I be notified before I get any pay, or does the judges decision include the accounting info. too. Many friends have told me that I will get a deposit before any letter. My attorney said I should be watching my bank account.

I am so very sick of waiting, I can't believe how long this has taken, I applied originally in sept. of 2002!!! that is so crazy.

Sorry for venting, and thanksin advance for any answers.

God Bless

I applied in July 2003 and finally had a hearing last month. I have been watching the mail and home banking myself lately. My attorney says he has had cases that take an additional year from the date of the hearing for the written decision and payment to be made. I hope that doesn't happen in your case or mine! Good luck.

My husband was recently approved by the judge with an on the record decision. He got a form letter stating that he was approved and that he would be receiving an official award letter from the DDS office. His backpay was deposited about two weeks before he received the award letter.

Hi,
Thanks so much for your reply, since my post of this thread I have called the hearings dept. and they said my case is closed, and I will be recieving a letter with in the week. Never any mention of what the decision was or when any money may come my way.

Carol
