 New to this medical forum. Quick question. Does anyone else out there find it hard to breathe when certain weather systems come around? I find it more difficult to get a FULL breathe when it gets ready to storm or when the humidiy is really high. Does this have anything to do with the air pressure and is it something i should really look into ? Thanks for any info, talk to other people and they just look at me like i'm nuts. But, i know its not in my head. Knowing others have this problem would help. Thanks

Louise, I have asthma and the change in weather does bother me, especially the humidity. I just posted on the Asthma Board about it. We just returned from a trip to Little Rock Arkansas and it was noticeably harder to breathe until I got into an air conditioned room and used my inhaler. Do you have allergies that you know of? SOmetimes people can have mild asthma and have minimal symptoms.

Although never actually had tests done, i do get hayfever when the season rolls around. Plus, i can't use any of that carpet freshener you sprinkle on the carpets. If i do i start the sneezing, itchy eyes, you name it. Also, i start with a cough around the end of October until at least February. Went to a Dr. tried all kinds of steroid, sprays, etc. Nothing helped. The cough just stopped on its own. Went to one Dr. and told him it got worse if i put on a few extra pounds. His reply was that's probably it !! BIG HELP!! Tried to lose weight by walking but even that sometimes is hard on the breathing. Again it seems to be with the air pressure or whatever. The seasonal cough i told you about would also either ease up or get worse depending on the building, area, etc i would enter. Sorry this is sooo long. Louise

Why is it the weight causes everything? I have put on the pounds also, and my asthma doctor told me to lose weight and it would improve!! I take Advair as a daily preventative - it is the steroid spray and it is really helped me a lot. But there are others. Right now I'm experimenting with a natural anti-inflammatory called Lyprinol. It is from Australia and is originally for arthritis, but have read it helps asthma also. This is just my second day, but will keep everyone informed.
