My entire life I have had lighter periods, lucky enough to rarely have cramps. About 4 years ago I started skipping periods for 4 months, then 6 months, and so on. I went thru the sleepless nights, the insomnia, the sweats. I have at the age of 47, not had a period for nearly 16 months.

Its been the EASIEST 16 months of my Life. Its been great

To my shock...my Period returned just a day ago. Its Light (as usual) but its here. I have not even had spotting the last 16 months.

Is this even CLOSE to normal? I am deeply depressed & distressed

I've heard of this happening to other women, but have you spoken with your doctor? Hopefully someone will respond with more information. :)

I haven't had a period for about 3 1/2yrs now, but I can remember that after a year of no periods I suddenly had a bleed for just 1 day, right out of the blue. I didn't mention it to my dr, but I've had nothing since then. Maybe it's just all part of the hormone levels changing.

I know of women who went a year or longer without a period and then either started spotting or bleeding for a few days. This happened to my mother after being 20 years post menopausal and she had to seek medical assistance that's why I asked if your doctor was aware of this situation.

I still hope some more women with personal experience will respond soon. :)
