My 15 month old DS has been crying a lot in his sleep. He sounds very distressed so I run into his room and he's asleep and is moving around and crying in his sleep. I don't know what could be causing this. Does anyone have this problem with a child this young? Thanks for any help.

DS did the same thing. Mostly when he was overly tired or when he had an ear infection. And at the time it was just soooo easy to bring him into our bed, which unfortunately for us became habit for several months. Nothing like sharing a bed with a toddler and feet in your face all night long.

My DD does this, a couple of times while sleeping she has screamed and I have to wake her up so she stops - it's quite scary! Although I don't really know what she could be having nightmares about...

Yes they can have nightmares at this age. My son is a good talker. He was at grammys house all day when he was around 16 months. They were in the garden and found a snake. Well the whole day they were looking for snakes and that night he woke up screaming and I went in and he said, "snakes on lemur" and wouldn't let me put him down and slept with me. He had woken before like this but this is the only time he really verbalized it. I think babies dream from birth.
