I got my biopsy results from my scope 2 weeks ago and the specialist said they showed "chronic focal inflamation" in my esophogus. He said the lab did not confirm one way or the other if this was acid reflux. But, he can't offer any other explaination either! Anyone else had this result from biopsy?
I was given Pariet to take for 2 months - a proton pump inhibitor. I have already tried Nexium, Prevacid and Zantac and got either bad effects of no difference at all. So, guess we will see what this does!

Hello Emmy2, I never heard of this type of diagnosis from a scope before, perhaps someone in the board can help you with this info. However, if you don't mind answering a question..I've also never heard of this proton pump inhibitor "Pariet" before. Is this a new PPI on the market that just came out? Have you experienced any results from it yet?

Hey there Pasta,
if i can jump in here, perhaps Emmy2 is from Canada as Achipex is marketed here as Pariet. I got terrible side effects from it but switched to Nexium, and it worked well. Good luck Emmy, and sorry that i have no advice on your results.
Cheers,
Dunk.

Yes, I am from Canada - and when I looked on the internet, pariet is the same as aciphex. I have only taken one dose (today for first time) so not sure how it will go! I did feel a little dizzy this morning!
Dunkers - what kind of side effects did you have? (now I am worried). I felt awful when I took Nexium (heavy chest and hollow stomach and just felt sick) so maybe the opposite will apply to me!

Thank you Dunkers,
I take Nexium also, & it's helping me too. If I may ask, how long have you been on Nexium? It took a long time before it started to kick in, but is doing very well for me. I also would like to know if you get any side effects from Nex? Your input would be much appreciated..thanks
Sandy
To Emmy,
Good luck with taking & finding a PPI to help you. It does take time for them to kick in. The Dr's say they work right away...maybe for some, but it took along time for me to get relief. I also take an anti-anxiety med with it.

How long is a long time for the Nexium to work. I have esophagitis and Barretts. The Barrett's is the result of the acid reflux and will never heal but how long before the Nexium really helped you with the reflux. It has been two months now.
