Last night at 2:30 am My 3 year old vomited in her sleep. It did wake her up. She only did this once and fell asleep within a half hour (I gave her a bath) she slept throught the night and got up as if nothing happened she seems fine today and has had some soup and is drinking fine what causes something like this? She didn't have any other symptoms and she had a normal bowel movement this AM just wondering what this is. anyone??????????? I thought it was a stomach bug but don't they last 24 hours and have other symptoms? Thanks Diane

Aw,your poor little sweetheart. But as the other poster stated, sometimes kids just throw up if something doesn't agree with them. It could have been a 24 hour virus and it took all that time to get her tummy upset and on its way to recuperation.
When my son was three, I mistakenly let him eat a bit too much Halloween candy and did he ever let it go all over my brand new lounger chair! I think their little tummies are extra sensitive and me being busy with answering the door and taking care of my other son, I didn't realize how much he'd eaten.
I wouldn't worry, I know it's scary but my pediatrician told me that the real worry is dehydration and just to keep pushing clear fluids, like jello, flat ginger ale, popcicles, kool-aid, etc. Seeing as your little girl is doing better, I think you've past the storm!
