View Full Version : Men...how do you carry those meters?

Howdy. I was diagnosed with type 2 about 7 years ago and have been lurking these boards off and on for awhile. I'm currently using a Freestyle Flash (which I really like) which has a nice small carrying case that attaches to my belt. I was looking at the new Compact Plus, which looks nice because I won't have to mess with test strips, but the carrying case doesn't have a belt loop!

So, those of us that don't carry purses around are out of luck I guess. So what are you all using to carry your monitors around? Keep in mind that I'm not on insulin yet so I don't need space for all the needles and such. I'm already carrying around a wallet and a PDA in my pockets so I'm looking for something as small as possible.

Any suggestions?

Oh, by the way, I just got that new Softclix Multiclix lancet pen. That's the pen that has a 6 lancet drum in it so you don't have to mess with the lancets. I've only used it once so far (just bought it) but it is very nice. This combined with the Compact Flash means I'll be the quickest blood draw in the west!

I carefully buy my shirts to have pockets (a) tall enough to hold the "stabber" device and meter; and also (2) with a snap closure or button already installed.

wa5ekh's "pursey" often contains a pipe wrench, and similar "manly" tools. :D :D

Well to answer my own question I found an old camera case that I used with my old film camera. (Remember when we used to have film cameras?) That seems to fit the meter nicely and stays on my belt. No room for a pipe wrench in there, but you can't have everything I guess.

By the way, I'm using the new compact plus meter from Accu-chek. I decided not to use the lancet device that it comes with (which is very nice and very painless btw...it's a nice lancet device) and use the multiclix lancet device instead. Both of these use drums to hold the strips and lancets so I never have to mess with them manually. I just whip them both out, press a couple buttons, and I'm done. It's very convienent.

Thanks for the reply...now I'm back to lurking mode. :)
