hi,
for the last month i have had trouble sleeping. i have been getting about 5 hours of sleep on 1 or 2 low dose xanax. my dr upped my buspar to 45mg and that seemed to help with the anxiety. i started to sleep about 6 hours and most days could nap. then depression started creeping in and he put me on wellbutrin. i had tried zoloft and prozac and couldn't take them. i was on the wellbutrin for 8 days. the first 5 days were great. i started to get a lot of energy but that turned into anxiety. so i had to go off. he said it would take 3-5 days to get out of my system. on day 4. have had 10 hours of sleep in the last 24. he also wants me to go back on patch and quit smoking again. i don't have the strength right now. been back to smoking for 2 weeks. keeping it at a pack or under. he thinks it might be nicotine withdrawal causing this. if so it should be better with nicotine in my system. it isn't. i just want to feel okay again. feel like i can't take much more of this. so tired.

I was on AD's for about 5 years and during most of that time I couldn't sleep unless I took another med to make me sleep. Then I couldn't wake up in the morning because I felt so drugged and then I was late to work every day. So I went to see a homeopathic doctor and the medicine he has me on is working great with no side effects and I can sleep! You might want to give it a try.

Another thing that helped me sleep while I was still on the AD's was Mellatonin. It didn't leave me feeling groggy like the other stuff did.

I am much like you when it comes to prozac. At first it was wonderful. When it came time to up the dose, I started having panic attacks. I was taken off of it then.

I am still on my amiltriptyline, which my dr never took me off of when I was trying the prozac. It's an old AD in the tricyclic family. I take it at bed time because it has a sedative in it. It also is good for anxiety, although, I take xanax, also. I have been on this AD for many years and have never felt groggy or drugged when I woke up. It gives me about six hours straight through sleep, and that seems to be with my body requires.

I wish you luck and take care please.............WW
