I'm so confused and thought I would see what everyone here thinks. I just read an article that virtually all signs of Diabetes Type 2 disappears in people who have a gastric bypass surgery.
Huh?

I just read an article that virtually all signs of Diabetes Type 2 disappears in people who have a gastric bypass surgery. Huh? whackedback 06-21-2006, 10:13 AM Yorkie- You may need to research this further, but I think it is essentially a true statement. Obesity is a major cause of Type II diabetes, and if a person loses enough weight, the cells may once again be able to process the insulin that the body produces efficiently enough that medication usage may be reduced significantly or completely. I think this is also true in the case of an obese person losing so much weight that their blood pressure may be more manageable with less medication, perhaps conditions like high cholesterol, too. wb wiredqs 06-25-2006, 02:11 AM I have also heard that asthma, sleep apnea and joint pain are improved.
