Whenever I have problems with my bowels it seems like my anxiety is triggered. I feel like there is a bout of anxiety is the pit of my stomach, like a nervous feeling. When I do have digestive problems my breathing is always the first to be infected and then comes an anxiety attack.

I suffer from the same thing and it started about a year ago. I have it under control now, and I did so with the use of Kava Kava, Tension Tamer Tea, and sometimes an herb called Hops. I also learned about reflexology and used that along with a shoulder massager to help with tense muscles.
The most important thing, though, for me was keeping myself distracted so I did not worry about worrying, if you know what I mean. It always gets worse at night but if I can keep my mind off of the anxiety and on something else I will suddenly realize that I am not feeling anxious. I hope some of this will be of help!

***The converse is also true. Sometimes anxiety can manifest as bowel problems. Have you been fearful lately..or as a psychiatrist friend of mine likes to say, "anything scaring the **** out of you lately (literally)*? Not saying it's all in your head either because anxiety and resulting physical complaints are very real. Please see your primary care physician if you haven't done so already. Maybe all you need is a minor tranquilizer or one of the ssri anti-depressants like Paxil..helps with social anxiety too. Doc needs to do a work-up on you to know for sure. Good Luck!

I just turned 24...and my anxiety has gotten worse in the last month....It mostly has to do with my breathing and being paranoid over that. I know forsure my breathing is linked to problems with my digestion...i ate some onions the other day and had the worse burning pain and breathlessness...i think maybe it could be acid reflux disease....maybe that is also causing my anxiety...i just wished i could pinpoint these problems so I know what I'm dealing with and convince myself that I'm going to be okay.
thanks
