Dr. Heimlich himself was in town this morning to give a lifesaving award. What a nice gentleman! He was interviewed on one of the morning shows. Said that his famous choking manuever can also be used to save drowning victims and Asthma patients. In the former, it can force water up and out of the lungs. CPR doesn't do that. In the latter, it can force open some of the breathing tubes and force out mucus plugs. You can even perform it on yourself, using your hands, or bending over a chair. I never thought of this, but I thought I would pass it on. Something to try in an emergency.
