I had my Gallbladder taken out on 11-19-02 and ever since then i have been in chronic pain (my upper stomach/back burns all the time 24/7) My heartburn started back in September when my gallbladder symptoms started, I went to the ER back in Sept. and the doctor didn't do any tests, just said it sounds like i have ACid Reflex and he gave me nexium, well i took that for about a month (with no relief) so then i went to see another doc. and she said to keep taking the nexium UGH! then i finally saw a 3rd doctor and he demanded to have tests done, i had a postive blood test for gallbladder and an ultrasound that showed that i had gallstones. well this 3rd doctor did say to me "kim it sounds like you have something else going on besides just the gallbladder" well i thought that he was nuts, so then after i had my GB removed, my burning pain got much, much, worse. I have had alot of tests done: "EKG, scope (just showed a small hiatel hernia)CT SCan, Hida SCan, MRI, numerous blood and urine tests" all were normal. The Gastro Doctor that i'm seeing doesn't know what's causing me this 24/7 burning pain. Is it possible that i do have Acid reflex? Would the gallbladder cause me to have GERD? I'm at my wit's end, i just want this chronic burning pain to stop! I have taken narcotic's for the pain, but they just make me sick! I just want to find out what's going on. I have been like this for 6 weeks now! :-( I don't want to live like this for the rest of my life! The doctor has got to find out what's going on. Any ideas? oh the gastro doc. has me taking Sucralfate and reglan and it's not helping! KIm

Have you gotten some relief?

The doctor gave me oxycontin 10mg to take (2 times a day) but it's not working that great, i think that i will ask her if she could up the dose.
I am going to have a 24/hr ph study done to see if the pain is caused by acid reflex, if it is then i will have the surgery to fix it, because nexium, prevacid, prilosec didn't help me at all.
Who knows what's going on? I wish that i would get a definate answer tho. But i do know that it has something to do with having my Gallbladder taken out!
What do you take for the pain? I have tried"percocet, vicodin, ultram, darvocet" and none of them helped. My primary doctor tried to get me refered to a pain clinic but they refused me saying that they don't take people who have upper stomach problems, RIDICULOUS HUH? I have to call tomorrow (monday) to schedule to have the 24/ph study done, I'm really nervous about it, but i guess i want to know if this burning pain is caused by acid. I heard that it can't detect bile reflex tho, maybe i have that being that i no longer have a gallbladder? Kim

I don't take anything for my stomach as nothing has EVER helped. I'm always looking for a new herb or something. I've never heard of anyone having the same constant burning before. I also have constant nausea. Hope we get better soon. Diane
