I read the topics to do with gallbladder surgery below and really appreciated that I am not alone in this. I have gallstones which have gone into my panceas thus causing pancreitis. Thus, I am in horrific pain and cannot digest food and have constant heartburn and gas. So, I can see that I do need surgery. I am really nervous about it though.
Has anyone had complications with a laparoscopy? I know that it is a relatively safe procedure, I just worry about complications. Is it a good decision to have it done?
Thank you!

Hi shinegirl and welcome to the boards! Only you can determine if you should have surgery, but my advice is - if you're suffering this much why continue this way? I had my gall bladder removed laproscopically in '97 (after having pain/nausea/weight loss for about a year), and even though I suffered problems with chronic diarrhea afterwards, I'm not sorry the GB is out. Medication is now controlling my bowels. Any surgery has risks and your doctor/surgeon should review those with you. But lap surgery is really safe these days - just make sure you have a competent, board-certified surgeon who has performed hundreds of these procedures.
If you do have problems afterwards, we'll be here to offer advice as needed.
Good luck to you,
Katie G
