View Full Version : How does my diet sound to you????

I just wanted an opinion on my diet from people who understand gastro/reflux problems. My family can't seem to understand that foods can cause pain and actually hurt me - my scope on Dec. 6 showed esophogus inflammation. I am very strict about what I eat. I have lost weight and I think they think I have some kind of eating disorder or something - maybe because I try to eat small amounts often, not big meals!

I am vegetarian - here is what I eat in a typical day. Could any of you with more GERD experience kindly tell me what you think I might be lacking, if there is anything here that might be making reflux worse, and maybe what I could add to gain (or not lose) weight. Does it look to you like I have an eating problem or do my family just not get it (they eat pizza and Mcdonalds all the time!!!!!!)

Thanks so much - everyone here has always been so helpful!

BREAKFAST - corn flakes with sugar and a glass of skim milk.
SNACK - 1/3 of a protein bar or few low fat cheese-flavoured crackers or maybe even a few pretzels
LUNCH - peanutbutter (low-fat) and strawberrry jelly sandwhich (one sandwhich), a banana, low-fat yogurt, glass of water (and one cookie if I am very daring - but certainly not one with chocolate)
SNACK - 4 crackers or a nutrigrain bar, small glass of skim milk
DINNER - main choices are home-made soup (low-fat brocilli and potato) or mashed potato and boiled veggies or french toast or pasta with veggies and cottage cheese mixed in or chick peas and corriander in a pita bread - those are my usuals
EVENING SNACK (3 hours before bed) - a smoothie made with yogurt, banana, honey, skim milk, and maybe a few frozen blueberries, and some dry cheerios to munch on
