Hi All, I was taking nexium for about 5 weeks and it was great, but because of the price my dr. switched me to pratonix. I have been taking it for 5 days and everyday my stomach would feel a little worse. I took it about 3 hours ago and now my stomach is burning really bad. I feel like I could breath fire. Has anyone else had any problems with this med?any ideas for something else to try thats not a killer on the wallet? Thanks to all.

Protonix is the cheapest in the US. It made me itch and didn't seem to help. I went back to Nexium but am still having problems. When I checked the Canada sites the Protonix and Nexium were about the same price so am getting the Nexium next time but my problems are getting so bad I don't know what to do. Have almost thought about not taking anything for a while but I have Barrett's and cannot afford anymore Acid Reflux.

I started on Protonix right after endoscopy. Was taking a two a day when I started itching. My condition has gotten worse since endo and am wondering if Protonix did not mess me up for a while cause the Drs. I have consulted said it could not be the endo. Will just use Nexium for a while and see how that goes.

Hi!
I was also taking Nexium and it worked great but insurance would'nt cover it. My doctor prescribed me
Protonix and it worked O.k. (but not great) for about
6 weeks. Now it is not working at all. I feel like I have a lump in my throat the size of a golf ball or maybe it feels like a furball cause of the tickle. Oh well maybe someday we will get this stuff figured out and under control. I can't stand it! Good luck!

After begging a pleading I finally got Kaiser to switch me tp Prolosec. I pratically had to stamp my feet and demand it. Let's hope it works better than that trash Protonix.

3 days of Prilosec so far and a vast improvement than the protonix. As long as I dont get any nasty side effects this could be the answer to my prayers.

Hurray!! I hope that you continue to feel much better.
Now if I can just do the same. Prilosec and Prevacid gave me awful D. Good luck.

KelMarie... I too have tried Nexium for weeks and I have a terrible golf ball in my esophagus..it gets so bad that I feel like my esophagus is blocked.. I actually had trouble swallowing crackers last night. this feeling comes on about 5 hrs. after taking Nexium and then it will last until I go to bed; I tried Aciphex and that did the same thing plus made me ache in my joints.. Prevacid gave a horrid panic attack inthe middle of the night..it was wierd.
Please let me know if you hear of anything that will help . The doctor's office thinks I need medicine for anxiety..but it still feels like a golf ball. Does anyone know if this is damaging our esophagus or if it ever goes away..
