My husband was diagnosed yesterday with a hyatial hernia (he left the message on our machine).
I am unclear on what this is and any other information
about this problem. The internet does not offer any
clear information on this particular problem.
Can someone here tell me what a hyatial hernia is and
some basic facts concerning treatment, etc.?
Thanks, Lhoop

While I am not a doctor, I did have a hiatal hernia for almost 30 years. I also had GERD. A hiatal hernia is where a portion of the stomach protrudes above the diaphram. I had heartburn frequently and once in a while food got stuck in my lower esophogas. Try Yahoo or Google search engines and you will find plenty of info on this topic.

I emailed you. I have accumulated a lot of knowledge on the subject, since I was diagnosed with a haital hernia in mid november.
