Hi spanishguy. If you've been diagnosed with IBS, you will be living with a chronic condition forever. There are many ways to learn to live with it and be relatively symptom free, but as far as ever curing it? I'm still an IBS sufferer after 20+ years, but have learned to keep the symptoms (mine are chronic diarrhea) under control with increased fiber, calcium supplements, acidophilus capsules and Colestid.

Keep working with your doctor to find what medication/lifestyle changes, etc. work for you. And remember, that we're all here pulling for you, too. The support on this board is incredible!

Good luck,
Katie G

After many years of suffering, I am managing the diarrhea by taking Caltrate 600mg with each meal. I was at a point where I could not leave the house and then I found a message board and it was recommended on the board. It changed my life. It worked wonders after nothing else helped. It must be the Caltrate in the purple and white box because this one has low magnesium. Too much magnesium can worsen the diarrhea.
