Just curious. I have YET to find an easy way! I have a baby bathtub, but I always get water in DS eyes and he hates it. I can't wash his hair in the bath tub because of this.

I bought a sponge shaped like a bear and I put him in the big bathtub and lay him down on that...this works but I am afraid of getting water in his ears and them getting infections. I don't out hardly any water in there, just enough to keep him warm...

any suggestions to make this time easier?

My DD takes a bath with me. I have a bad back so its hard for me to bend over the bath to bathe her. Its so much easier this way and she really enjoys when I get in with her. I do remember seeing somewhere that they have baby visors that they can wear so soap wont get in their eyes.

I used to get the bathroom very warm first. Then I showed baby the tub so she knew what to expect and eased her into the water. If I didn't do it slowly, she beame a little uncomfortable, but if I took my time, she enjoyed it. The tub I have is at a 45 degree angle so that her head was completely out of the water. I scooted her plastic baby tub forward to the middle of the large tub. I turned on the water and tested the temperature of the water coming out of the faucet. Then, when it was just right, I scooted her tub back so that I could have her hair in the stream of the water. I was able to hold her head and turn it or lift it so that the water would not get in her eyes. It seemed to feel good to her. Of course, I had to be VERY careful to adjust the water stream and temperature before doing this, but this is what worked for us. Now we use a cup and pour the clean water over the back of her head while supporting her head. This is what we do now that she's older to prevent accidents.

I know the best trick and I still use it on both of my kids! Get your self a pack of cloth diapers. They are super duper absorbant! Take one and fold it over longways so that you have a strip that's about 12 inches long and 2-3 inches wide. Then you wrap that around the forehead when you have to pour the water at the front of their head. For a little baby you'd just place it around that area. You'd wrap it all the way around when they are sitting up on their own. They are absorbant enough to take a few small cups of water. I usually have to wring mine out one time to get about 4 rinses done. And it will keep all that water out of the eyes. That seems to be more than enough to get the shampoo out.

I also have the best bathtub. It's called Primo. It's about $25. A bit pricey for a baby bath...but...It is modled to a baby's body shape and it puts them at about a 40 degree angle and they will not slip around or under the water. I loved mine after using a handful of other types. DD used it for about a year as it caters to lying down and sitting up.

Good luck! Bathing these slippery little angels is tricky!! :)

my ds is almost 11 months old, and since he can sit on his own and what not, it has been much easier, I have a blow up bath, that I put him in, but mainly I have found it easier to just take him in the bath or shower with me, cept now, I have to have dh take him in the shower as he pinches at my nipples lol, he does to dh now too, but a little different. good luck

MY ds is 3 months old and I give it to him in the kitchen sink. We do have a baby bath but it hurts his little boy parts bc for some god awful reason they put a rest area near the crotch of the tub. So now we do it in the sink which he LOVES. He likes to lean back so I place a dish towel where the sink seperates and he can lay against it. It makes it alot easier to wash his full head of hair to bc I have a faucet that is also the sprayer to can be removed. If you do try this, don't forget to put a towel at the bottom of the sink so the baby is comfy and doesn't slip around!

i use a normal baby bath, ds loves lying in the water he does not mind if the water goes in his eyes or mouth just if it goes up his nose. i support his head under my left hand and his body just floats nicely. he is starting to get too long for the baby bath now so i have to support him sat up to wash his hair previously i use to wash his hair over the bath with him wrapped in a towel but now he is 15 pounds my arms hurt to hold him over the bath to do this.. i also squeeze the water out his sponge over his head this gets him used to the water running down his face. he loves baths and kicks the water everywhere with excitement. i am looking forward to him playing with toys in the big bath one day the joys of watching ds enjoying himself are invaluable:D

I hate my baby bath. It was the 3 stage one and was more work. I used the sponge and ussually water did get in their ears but I would use the towel or a safty tip and dry it out. Niether child has ever had an ear infection (knock on wood). When DS was really small I would use the sponge in the kitchen sink. My tub is stupid huge though and bathing a really tiny infant was back breaking. When they start sitting the sponge is good so they don't slide around too.

I have to admit that I am still giving DD 5 and 1/2 months sponge baths!!! There is a little thing that someone gave me at a baby shower that goes in baby tubs that they can lay on. I lay her on it with a towel under the back of her head and sponge her with the soapy wash cloth, and then pour clean water over her to rinse. The tub catches all the water underneath, and she lays on the little "bath bed." I don't know exactly how to describe it, but they sell them at Wal Mart near the baby bath tubs.

My best friend thinks I'm nuts that I haven't switched to putting her IN the tub yet, but I am paranoid, and she doesn't sit up by herself yet, and I am not very strong.

I bathed d sikn the sink for a good 5 months. I had that big pillow thing from babies r us, and I loved it! The diaper thing is a great idea for not getting water in their eyes, I used washcloths. I also thought that bathing him in the tub was so tough on my back, and I was so scared to slip with him in my arms ( I was not in the bath with him). The sink was just the right height.

I also bathed my babies in the sink, I have a very bad back so that helped me a lot, I usually start by washing hair in sink ( just like the hair dresser does) dry hair thn wash the body .....make sure that everything is ready next to you ..( towel, wash cloth, shampoo...etc ) and of course I never never take hot water directly from faucet, i always fill a small bassinet to make sure temp is right....

I use a tub that fits into our kitchen sink. I wash her hair with a wash cloth (well, I rinse it with a cloth). I sort of wipe the suds away from eyes, then tip her head back and squeeze the cloth out to rinse her hair. He butt is pretty much the only part of her actually under water, and the tub has a padded, inclined seat. She loves bath time, she starts wiggling when I fill the tub.

I have the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders bathtub which is a 3 in 1. It allows newborns to lay in the tub ad you don't have to put a hand behind them. My daughter is 3 months and she still lays in the hammock part for newborns so she is not submerged in water yet. I just pour water over her with a cup. It is by far the nicest tub I have seen in any of the stores. I don't like using the kitchen sink to bathe so this tub has worked out great! You didn't specify how old your baby is?....

My girls both bathe with me if I need a bath. Otherwise Raeden's bathtub gets laid across the sink and she gets a bath there

I bought a teddy bear sponge to lay mine in. I proped it up so it actually sits up. I also use a small small bowl to pour water on his head, and i never get any water in his ears or eyes. But when I do he just kind of giggles. I also bathe my baby with a baby loofa and lots of love :). Oh and when you do get water in there eyes just baby talk to your baby and smile.
