I have been on prevacid docs say I have gasritis and also had a blood test for hploria and it came up i did not have it. But I have had this before and my symtoms are the same-my doc keeps throwing it out as anziety. Does this always show up in a blood test? Been really sick with bloating and now stomach pains and my colon hurts. My chiro says I have stomach yeast and the doc says there is no test for that(she does muscle testing) What kills stomach yeast? SHe just has me on acidolifulus helps some but not all the way. I need to find a doc that will listen to me but have seen so many just feel I am on my own with this.

For yeast problems try Caprilyic Acid. Available at any health food store. It worked for me and I have seen others post of it's benefits here.

Your doctor can order a blood test to test for candida. It won't prove that it is in your stomach, but if the test results are high then you will know that you have it in your body. Not all labs perform this test though. (It's a regular blood test but some of them just don't do it.)

Ask your doctor to look into the blood test further. It does exist. I have had it done. No need for her to do an endoscopy to see if there is yeast in your stomach if you can have a blood test done. If you get that blood test done and it shows that there is a normal level of candida in your body (we all have some) then you know that your stomach problems are not from that. But if it shows that there is a high level of candida in your body, then you know that is probably what is causing your stomach problems. Then, you should have an endoscopy and have her take a sample from your stomach tissue. Your dr may not know about this test. As I said before, not all labs do it. Not al drs know about it or believe in it. It is just a regular blood test, but it is not done very often. My allergist is the one who sent me for the test. He specializes in food allergies and yeast/candida sensitivity. He has written books on it. In fact, one of the best books that you can buy, all about yeast, is called "The Yeast Connection". It tells you about all of the problems that yeast can cause, and what to do about it. And in the back I believe there is a list of contributing doctors and their phone numbers and addresses. You need to find a good GI dr as well as a good Primary Care Practicioner, who will work with each other and listen to you and do what you ask. Or do what I did...find a PCP who is also a GI specialist! I love that, because when I get sick with other things, he always knows what medication will best work with my stomach problems, and cause me the least amount of discomfort.
I also have had very bad yeast problems at different points in my life.
Have you been taking a lot of anti-biotics lately? Because that can cause yeast problems. Trust me, I know. Do you get diahrrea a lot? I am having that problem right now, as well as very bad reflux. He said that the diahrrea and the reflux could be caused by a secondary infection from taking too many anti-biotics. (I have eye problems which need oral anti-biotics, then I had a sinus infection, then I had a gallbladder attack.) Over the past 2 months I have been on 3 different anti-biotics, all for different things. If I don't feel better in a few days I am supposed to call him and he is going to give me something called Flagil (sp?) which is an anti-biotic that is supposed to help clear up those kinds of stomach problems.
Good luck,
Elyse

Stomach problems that are caused by taking too many antibiotics is called C.Diff or it is sometimes known as antibiotic colitis. It is known as this, because the bowel becomes inflammed and you can get an overgrowth of bacteria due to the antibiotics knocking out all the good bacteria. The treatment that is normally given for this is called Metronidazole (Flagyl).
Have you been taking Probiotics or Acidophilus whilst you have been taking all these antibiotics? If not, perhaps you should consider it next time, as taking these with the antibiotics, but at different times can help prevent such problems, as you don't lose all the good bacteria and can keep your levels up whilst the antibotics are killing off all the other bacteria. They can sometimes help to prevent yeast infections also as a result of taking the antibiotics.
It is a shame these days that most docs seem to think that antibiotics are the cure for everything and they dole them out with too much regularity. Unfortunately, they are not , as you have discovered from your resultant stomach problems. They just give antibiotics for one problem and this goes on to create others. It seems daft to me.
I am not saying that I don't agree with antibiotic use when they are essential, but you just have to be sensible, as antibiotics can lower your immunity significantly and leave you more prone to a whole host of other infections, as you guys are just discovering.

I take acidophilus every day no matter what, as well as culturelle, which is a probiotic. I agree that doctors give out anti-biotics too much but this time mine did have very good reasons. The first anti-biotic that I was taking was doxycycline. It was prescribed by my ophthalmologist. He gave that to me because I have very bad meibomian gland dysfunction in my eyelids (I do not produce the right kind of tears, and I develop styes) and one of the side effects of doxycycline is that it clears up clogged meibomian glands. It is the only oral anti-biotic that does that. He gave me a very low dose because he knows how yeast sensitive I am. I didn't want to use it, but it was my last resort. But you have to be on it for months to see a difference. So anyway, after a few weeks of taking that I got a sinus infection. I had fevers and very bad headaches and it just would not go away. So I went to an ENT specialist and he gave me Levaquin. Unfortunately he said that the Doxycycline would not help with the sinus infection. During the time that I was taking the Levaquin, I stopped the Doxy. So anyway, after I finished the Levaquin I waited about a week and then went back on the Doxy. Then a short time later, I developed the gallbladder problems and when I went to the emergency room they were afraid that because I had a fever (99.2), if I didn't take anti-biotics I could get very sick. So they gave me a very strong dose of Ceftin (500mg twice a day for 7 days). I was far away from home and did not know anything about gallbladder problems, and was very scared. So I took the anti-biotic without hesitation. So again, I stopped the Doxy. When I came home and saw my own dr he told me that he didn't see any reason for me to be on the anti-biotics since I had no more fever, but that wasn't until after I had already been on them for about 5 days. By then I was already sick with diahrrea. But he said that could also be from the gallbladder problems. I'm not going to start the Doxy again until my diahrrea is completely gone. Plus, I need to give my body a break from all of these anti-biotics. Right now I am not taking any anti-biotics. I am just taking Aciphex 20mg twice a day, Lexapro 10mg once a day, and flaxseed oil 1000 mg (for the eyes) as well as the acidophilus and culturelle.
The diahrrea has gotten better since I stopped taking the anti-biotics. But I still get it, but usually only after meals. I find that one Lomotil controls it well. Immodium does absolutely nothing for me. Lomotil shuts it down.

No have not had antiobiotics for awhile now-i have the opposite constipation- My chiro says I have yeast with muscle testing and taking acidoliplus also going thru hormone issues and alot of stress. She says my diaphram is contracting putting pressure on my upper colon allowing no release of bowel movements. Have had 6 colonics with no help-still having problems. Taking 1 200 mg of mag citrate a day now too. Now i get low abdomen bloating. My cortizone levels are way overly high-but the rest is not bad. I have a tight colon she says. Just not sure how to relax it. I had a doc once in another area where i lived put me on muslce relaxers and that helped. I know mag is suppose to relax muscles but so far has not worked. Does anyone know of a muslce relaxer that is natural to help the colon? I am not sure how much mag to take-heart feels funny when i take the one. Still think something else is going on like an infection or something-but docs say I dont have hploria-would taking prevacid effect the results in my question? I dont have no urge at all anymore. When I take fiber just feels like i am feeling up and nothing comes out. No one listens to me. UGH! Been miserable to say the list and tired of it sitting in my rectum and not wanting to push out.

It sounds like you need to drink a lot more water to wash it all through your system. You need to drink between 2 to 3 litres on a daily basis.
Peppermint is a natural muscle relaxant and has antispasmodic properties, so drinking Peppermint tea can be very helpful.
