my doctor prescribed me loestrin 1/20 but i ended up with the generic form microgestin fe 1/20. i am suppose to start on sunday. i am kind of nervous. i have never been on birth control before, and i have been looking up microgestin and it seems like most people don't like it. now i'm afraid to even try it. i noticed some people saying they gained weight. i already kind of have a plm with weight. i just recently lost over 30 lbs and i am at my goal weight (yay) but i worked really hard for it, and i don't want to gain it all back by taking the pill. also what is this about spotting? does it just happen randomly? are there signs? is it really heavy? i am also already kind of emotional as it is.. is this going to make me even more emotional? and i am not looking forward to any acne either. i think i'm going to go ahead and try it on sun.. but i am really nervous.. is there anyone out there that does like microgestin? any positive feed back?

Hey there. I am also on Microgestin Fe 1/20....on my 4th month. I didn't gain any weight on the pill. As for the spotting, it has only happened to me once. It was random, and extremely light.
I HAVE had problems on this pill, I won't lie to you...it's taken my body awhile to adjust. At first Microgestin made me extremely emotional. I also experienced a very heavy period during my first month. However, now my cycles are ridiculously light....so light that it's making me quite concerned (see my thread hehe). I'm thinking about switching to another kind.
Try not to worry too much. There are a lot of benefits to being on birth control....not only will it help prevent pregnancy, but you will be able to know exactly when your period will start and end, etc. Each woman reacts differently to types of pills than others. Give yourself about 3 months to adjust. If you end up not doing well on Microgestin, tell your doctor that you'd like to switch to something else. Good luck! :)

Hey, well I know how you feel, I have only been on BC for not even a month now, and I love it! Honestly yha I did get the symptoms like headaches, dizziness, and mild cramps but as far as anything else all I did was go on multivitamins and everything went away. I haven't experianced any spotting what so ever. But let me tell you I have a long history of depression, but the pill didnt even effect me at all. What I did get though is alot of moodiness! and the only scientific way you can gain weight is by having fatigue and doing nothing like sleeping a lot, because the pill make you really tired and really sleepy. I have been on it about 3 weeks now and the pill has actually helped me with acne and since I have stayed active I have not gained one pound. The best advise I can give you is right when you go on the pill go get some multivitamins so that your symptoms won't be so hard. So if your scared I completly understand but trust me it's probably the best thing you can do if you plan on having should I say "fun" :blob_fire Hope for the best to you!

It did make my skin flare up, yes. But now that only happens about once a month, and seems to be calming down now that I've been on the particular brand for a few months.

I did a bit of research earlier tonight about it, and found a website where MANY users said that Loestrin and Microgestin Fe 1/20 made their periods either very light or practically non-existant. If this is something that would bother you, then watch out for it...it may not happen, but if it does, don't stress out too much. It happened to me and I was scared, so just be warned! :)
