I am nauseated, especially after I eat food. Some food and drinks are worse than others. I always get very sick after I drink orange juice. I also have bloated stomach, gas, and constipation.

I don't have heart burn or any pain, so I don't think it is acid reflux or ulcer.

My doctor can't find anything, and I have been treated like I have acid reflux. So far it hasn't worked. The lab tests suggest I have alevated liver enzyme??? What can this be?

Should I demand more tests? like endoscope, Xray, MRI, ultrasound?

Any help appreciated.

An elevated liver enzyme may indicate a gallbladder problem.

Actually I just got my ultrasound results. I don't have any gallbladder stones, but I have fatty liver. That still doesn't explain why I am always nauseated.

Orange juice is very acidic, so I am not all surprised that you get sick after drinking it. You probably feel nauseous after eating and you have too much stomach acid. Cut out the orange juice and try and cut out eating citrus fruit, if you do and try eating things such as bananas and foods generally that are more alkaline in nature to even out your stomach acid and this should help.

Also, if you are constipated, then this is definitely another reason why you would feel nauseous after eating. You may feel nauseous with long term constipation too, as the toxins build up in your body without being released well and any build up of toxic waste within your body will make you feel sick and unwell generally.

The constipation will also cause you to have a bloated belly, so I would suggest that you start taking Metamucil twice daily to help your constipation. Its a water soluble fiber supplement and is as good for diarrhea as it is for constipation. It is safe to be taken twice daily, although ensure that you drink enough water with it. At least 6 to 8 glasses. Once your system gets used to it you will be ok, but you need to give it a proper chance to work, so keep taking it for at least two weeks, which is a fair trial and then decide after that.

You also need to start probiotics/Acidophilus caps to help re-colonise your good gut bacteria. If they become unbalanced you can get problems with bloating and gas. Take them twice daily on an empty stomach and keep them in the fridge. You should start to notice a difference after about 5 days.

Thank you Sara. I am afraid my problem is worse than just constipation. I have a fatty liver, but I am not even close to being overweight. I gained 25 pounds for no reason over last 2 years. I used to weigh 125 but now I am 150. I am a small man so percentage wise that is a lot. That means my liver has become inefficient at getting rid of fat. That fact coupled with elevated enzyme indicate I have some sort of liver problem. I don't have hepetitus of any sort so I don't really know what problem I can have.

I am thinking about going to Mayo Clinc to sort this one out
