I posted here not too long ago about my 2 yr old daughter. Thinking she may have diabetes because of some weird readings. Any way I took her to a Gastroenterologist and he did alot of blood work. He called tonight and said most of the tests look normal, except 1. She is positive for celiac disease. And she has to go in for a upper endoscopy. They will put her out to do this. I was also reading that people with celiac are more prone to having diabetes and thyroid problems? Is this true? Has anyone had one of these done. They are doing it to confirm the diagnosis.
Thanks

I remember you.

Yes, it's true that celiac people are more prone to diabetes and thyroid. It's because type 1 diabetes, certain thyroid disorders, and celiac are all autoimmune disorders, so when you have one, you are more likely to get others. But it's not like it's a gurantee or anything. Just keep an eye out for them.

I'm glad you are finally getting some answers. I had an upper endoscopy under general anethetic when I was 16 and it was no biggy. She'll do fine.

Best of luck.

My older sister had celiac when she was young and never developed diabetes or thyroid problems. She is now 58. Hopefully the same will be true of your daughter. Good luck!
