Has anyone taked an AD and had it work for a week or so and then have it just quit working? I know they say AD"s don't work that fast and it takes a few weeks to have any improvement. The work very quickly on me and than they stop. Just like that! Anyone have any ideas? It's very frustrating to have the depression lift and than have it come back so quickly. I have tried many different meds and none seem to last!

I do not know if this is relevent or not. There is something called the placebo effect where ones mind will tell the body it is feeling better when in actuality the med has not had a chance to work. You see this in medication studies alot.

I have read what trg wrote about the placebo effect. I think that might be what you had. Maybe you wanted the AD to work so badly that your mind believed it was
Also, some AD's have an effect when you start taking them that is real. With lexapro I felt a little sleepy durning the day, but felt so much better durning the day. That wore off and I had to wait until the eight weeks were up. They really did start helping at week 6.
My suggestion is to keep taking the med and give it a chance to work for real. If you have any questions about how they effected you call your dr.
Keep posting. It helps and there are lots of folks here to help you.
Take care and good luck................WW:wave:
