Hi my doctor put me on oxycontin 30mg a day for 5 months I got so so sick nearly had a complete breakdown and didn't know what was happening to me I went back to see him and he said I was very sensitive to drugs (he put me on them for a chronic back pain injury) wierd the pain didn't really go away but I had all the rare side effects and he said I was toxic. Now down to 10 mg a day half in morning half in evening my brain still doesn't work well and my memory has gone and I am up and down so hard to explain how I am feeling I have been told by my doctor to keep cutting down and things will get better I have a little boy who is 7 and is has been so frightening I completely went mad! will my memory come back, at times I still slurr my words and anxiety is still bad. I completely lost my mind on this ****, and I cannot work due to nearlyhaving a complete breakdown before I realised what was happeing. How much longer will it last feeling these intense feelings, will my brain go back to normal, this really scares me as people who know me have said you are not the same girl what has happened to you? I hate taking drugs and I had no idea what the doctor really subscribed me at the time, I should have asked more questions, I certainly know now, but it scares me that my brain has been affected and my body and organs. Can anyone give me some advice on what I can do to get well

missems, I too am VERY sensitive to medication, but I know this, so I am always looking for side effects when I take a new medication.
Why are you even taking this medication at all now? There are drugs that you can take to help with withdrawl symptoms (which is separate from your reaction to the med) if that is the reason. If withdrawl is not the reason you are still taking this medication.. that doctor should be fired and sued for malpractice!
There are tons of other medications that can help you alleviate your pain without the serious side effects you are having with the oxy..
Who are you now seeing (not the name, but type of doctor)? I would go see another specialist ASAP! Seriously! It may take some time for this medication to get fully out of your system, which again, I know there are some meds out there that can help with that.. but as to how much.. I dont know.
I am not up on who to see for medications, but since you are being treated for pain, maybe a pain management center might be a great place to start. Make sure you document as a journal.. about what's going on with you with this medication, both past history and each day going forward.. it will help whoever you see in determining the best approach going forward.
I wish you all the best. Stay positive.. that is very essential that you not give in and fight fight fight.. you have a child to think about.. so use that as your focus to push forward on this.
Let us know how you are doing. Take care.. Tammy:wave:

I've had one round of the oxycontin...(two months worth) and I can tell you I almost lost my mind. As far as the pain, yeah it helped more than the lorecet I'd been taking, but it wasn't worth what I went thru. When I went back to see my pain dr, I told him NEVER AGAIN! That stuff is just wicked imo. You do have a choice missems, if it's doing you that way I would change the pain meds or dr...or both. Take care.:)
