I am a 22 year old student with GAD and depression. I am in a depressive phase right now and have been perscribed different medication for both conditions for the past year. The problem is, every drug I have tried so far has either made me even more sleepless (I have insomnia), or given me weird side effects like rapid heart beat (wellbutrin) . After the first day I just stop because I don't want to have trouble sleeping for however many days in a row. When I told my psychiatrisrt that I had trouble sleeping she prescribed ambien which didn't really help to counter the restlesness/ sleeplesness that the SSRI's cause. I have tried 3 different SSRI's, trazadone, remeron, xanax, and , most recently wellbutrin and everything seems to be disagreeing with me. My psychiatrist is pretty much at a loss for what to try.
Is there anyone who has had this problem? if so, how did you deal with it?
I actually want to start feeling better with the help of meds but not at the cost of my sleep and heart health.

hi welcome to the boards. Unfortunately it can take alot of time finding the right medicine that suits you and it can take up to six weeks before you see the full effect of the drug. Sorry I could not help more
