That is not a known side effects but you could just be allergic to it. Either talk to your doctor or don't take it for a couple days and then see how you feel. Take it again and see what happens but the best thing is to call the Dr. Yes, it could be acid reflux. That does cause SOB. If there is gas involved it definetely can cause SOB because the gas pushes on the lungs. Unlikely that anxiety would cause it.

Anxiety attacks can last anywhere from a few mins to hours if you have nothing to take for them to clam it down. I had an attack one night before I knew what they were that lasted from 7 pm till almost 2am off and on. I thought I was dying. Anyway I was on nexium with no problems at all but I did have a few anxiety attacks while on it and it always involved my breathing and my stomach. I am on Losec now I like it much better though.

Selena,
I have to wonder if you're not onto something here. I was on Prilosec for several years, then switched to Nexium. I started having anxiety attacks about 5 years ago and they've gradually got worse. I can't even drive on the expressway now because I have an attack every time I drive it. Never thought it could be related to Prilosec or Nexium, but I'm going to do some further checking with the drug manufacturer.
Thanks for sharing.

If you read the fine print of a medication, you might find almost anything in there. Ask your pharmacist for a med insert and get out your magnifying glass and reading glasses under a bright light. You will find that these meds to stop acid production can cause exactly the symptoms you are trying to avoid!

I was on Nexium for a few months, and I felt lousy! Then I was switched to Protonix and felt great, until I found out it would cost me $35/mo! So I went back to my free samples of Nexium to try it again and try to save money (everything bad in my life has seemed to revolve around saving a few bucks http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif). Within days, I started to feel awful again, but I also had other symptoms... which I've forgotten now. Suffice it to say there was something else occurring, and I'm going for major abdominal surgery next month. I'm no longer sure which came first, the chicken or the egg, but I'm hoping to have more answers after surgery!

The real point I'm trying to make is that there are a lot of meds out there, and if one doesn't help or has side efffects you cannot live with, get your doctor to try something else. And if you find one that helps (am I listening?), stick with it.

$35/month??? That's not bad! I took a free trial of Nexium and luckily, thet didn't bother me at all! Then I found out that a 30 day supply of 40 mg cost $139! I don't even have insurance, so its going to cost a fortune.
If your medicine really cost only $35 bucks, consider yourself lucky! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
