I'm 5"4 and frankly, 120 is slightly under weight. I think, at 15, I wouldn't be worried about weighing 120 lbs. Instead of trying to get rid of the weight maybe you can do some shaping exercises and weight lifting to tone the weight. You are at a very healthy weight and you shouldn't mess with that.

Hi there! When you are young and have any weight concerns, you really should consult with a physician as it's not wise to decide, without a full assessment, how much you should be eating! Your body is still growing and need plenty of nutrients.
If the doctor says you are fine, but you still feel you want to lose a little weight, ask him/her to give you a guideline towards gentle weightloss, like how much exercise you should be doing and what calorie range to aim for.
And finally, don't put too much pressure on your self, ok? Just take it slowly and surely! I lost about 70 pounds myself so been there, done that ...
Good luck!

At 15 years of age, 105 lbs at 5' 4" would not be advisable (especially if you have to go to extraordinary lengths to achieve it). Some people are naturally that light at that height but in most cases, 120 lbs at 5' 4" would probably be considered on the low side of healthy. What is the reasoning behind the desire to be that light?

As an adult, 5'4" and 120 is quite good. As a 15 year old, I agree with your idea of losing a couple pounds if you have a mind to do so.
Try something like 1500 calories day (SCRUPULOUSLY COUNTED) and some exercise to see if that will take off a few pounds. If that doesn't work, drop back to 1400...try for at least 60 grams of protein.
A couple sites I checked said that optimal weight for a 15 year old girl is in the range 110-112 so going to 105 is certainly reasonable for you.
Good Luck.

because like "Lenin" and socioty these days says, the average weight for a 15year old girl is 105-112 pounds. :blob_fire

Yeah, I have to disagree with you Lenin. Speaking as someone who is 5'4" myself (although about six years older than the original poster) 105 does not seem healthy at all. Maybe if she wants to lose 5 lbs, I wouldn't say that's automatically unhealthy, but 105?

Getting overweight, then getting Fat and then getting Obese and on to MORBIDLY OBESE is SO very easy these days.
My hat is off to a 15 year old who learns early what she wants to weigh and then tries to do what is necessary to get there.
Why wait til age 30 and a weight of 150 to try to take control of your food intake? Or age 50 and 230#?
It's easy enought to gain weight, all we have to do is RELAX! It's staying fit and trim that takes WORK!
My sister weighed about 105 at 15 and now, in her 50's weighs 118...she is 5'6 and built like a brick outhouse. Only on birth control pills did her weight ever go over 120. Nobody has ever called her skinny!

Weight should not be the primary indicator for health. The scale shouldn't be the primary driver of one's lifestyle choices. When too much emphasis is placed on weight, it is more likely due to self-esteem issues, vanity and social pressure. Will I concede that there are reasons for a 15 year old girl at 5'4" to weight 105 lbs? Sure. If she is a competitive diver or gymnist, maybe (although both of those sports are notorious for being riddled with eating disorders). But for a 5'4" girl at 120 lbs, diet should not be in her vocabulary. Instead she should concentrate on learning words and phrases like MODERATION, PORTIONS, ALL-NATURAL, LOW-SODIUM, WHOLE GRAINS and ORGANIC. These things, and not DIET, will bring her a higher quality of life and make her a much healthier person. As a matter of fact, it was recently reported in the media that a person has a greater life expectancy if they are slightly OVERWEIGHT vs. if they are slightly UNDERWEIGHT. On contributing factor to this result is that people who suffer from eating disorders die younger and skew the results. A 15 year old on a diet is a 30 year old with and eating disorder (more often than not).

i think i am a healthy person. i am vegetarian, so i dont eat fast food, since all the fast food places only have meat products.( and yucky french fries). but i do, eat lots of whole grains and all natural foods ( most of the vegetarian brands of food i get are all natural) and i dont eat too many carbs. so that is very easy for me to do. i do pilates every day, and i control my food intake, but my weight just stays the same. i dont know what i am doing wrong..
