View Full Version : Food diary and weight loss

Ok, so i've been keeping a food diary for about a month. My psychologist helps me to identify bad eating habits and reasons for why i eat certain foods when i do and why i have certain eating habits (i have eating problems). But what i wanted to say is that from looking back over the past month, i am eating alot better and these past few days i do feel a 'tiny tiny' bit slimmer (stomach area) but when i step on the scales i haven't lost any weight, (which i find really upsetting).

I guess what i want to ask is, what do i need to do with my diet to help me lose weight? At the moment i am trying to eat healthy but i do have days where i'll slip up but i dnt feel like i'm on a diet because of the food i eat.
I try eat every three hours and i am usually starving buy then but i dont know what to eat so i'l have a piece of fruit or maybe some steamed fish. I'v also become scared of carbs (i know that sounds funny), although something like pasta, boiled potatoes and sandwiches might be good for me, i start to panic when i read up on the nutritional information about the amount of carbs in the food.

Also, another problem is that i'm asian so we have alot of home made currys and all kinds of food in the house. So i dont know what i am meant to eat to lose weight. In the past i just used to starve myself but i want to do it properly this time to lose the weight i gained from medication.

I try to avoid the meals my mum makes or i'l just eat a piece of chicken from it with some lettuce, sometimes i'l try make my own healthier version but it turns out awful. But what annoys me is that i dont know how many calories are in the meal.

I haven't really started exercising properly yet. This is mainly because i dont like to go out since gaining the weight, i kinda lost my confidence and get really paranoid. But i have started little walks with my CPN and were building up to me getting back to the gym. I'm just very very image concious at the moment, so i have trouble going out.

I was hoping that maybe someone could give me some ideas of what foods i could eat and maybe what would be the best exercise regime for me for when i do get back to the gym. I do, however had a bad ankle but that is healing ok.

Sorry about the long post, i would appreciate any comments.

Thank you :)

xx

Hello Lai,
It was cool to read your post because I just started to journal every single piece of food I eat yesterday. I'm using the Weight Watcher's point system.
Health charts say the absolute most I should weigh is 128 lbs. I'm at 165 now! I Need to go the other direction....
Maybe we can "talk" to each other for support?

I began exercising seriously last week. Walking to work up a sweat for at least 40 minutes at least 4 x's a week. Your Ankle? Can you swim? Swimming is the only thing I can think of that won't harm your ankle further while it's healing. Some people also walk/jog in the water....

Good luck.
