I really really don't like how it looks even though it is in the back tooth
I just don't like it ...Would it be silly to cap it ...or should I just leave it
Because they say the white filling is not a strong as the silver I did the silver
What would you do? any thoughts ? It really bothers me ...
I feel the tooth is not as strong now....
How long can a filling last ? 20 years maybe ? hopefully
Thanks again

Linda, I didn't understand what you posted.
Are you saying you just had a large silver fillings put in your back teeth.
Or you'v had a large silver fillings in their for years.
I'v had my 3 back teeth with silver fillings since 1992.
So far they still feel good.
I also just had 2 white fillings on the side of 2 of the 3 back teeth in the back.
Apparently a cavity grew on the side of the tooth.
The Silver fillings I have are on the top of the teeth.
I'v never had a problem with the Silver fillings in the back.
The only way I would replace the Silver fillings in the back, is if they started to feel very irritating.
I'v not had a problem so far.
So i'm keeping them in there.
If the Silver fillings you have are starting to feel irritating, that means they might be alittle loose or possibly need to be replaced.
Thats why i need to know how long have you had these silver fillings in your mouth.

Or you just dont like the way they look.

Me too! :)
I didn't like the way eight of these mercury fillings looked in my molars...not to mention the headaches etc. they were giving me. (a long story)
I just decided to change them out for cosmetic purposes, even though there are different opinions on their safety. I got porcelain and an excellent dentist that put them in over 10 years ago. It might have been over 12 years ago...kind of lost track of time.
Porcelain is much better than composites in my opinion, and there are so many different kinds of porcelain fillings that are reportedly better and stronger than others. You'll need to find a dentist that has done lots of these kinds of dental restorations...and find the materials that will be most durable and right for you.
I've had good luck with mine, with absolutely no problems...love my white teeth. :D
