An MRI showed some arthreitis and disk slippage in lower back. MY right mid back and side along with right hip kills me when I walk or stand too long. The pain is also felt in my right leg . My legs feel heavy, weak and slow to respond especially when driving and going to step on the brake peddle.
This has been going on for about 1 year and recently my legs have started having tremors (even now while at the computer). My back is stiff especially when getting out of bed in the morning. Its a struggle to put on my socks.
I also ocassionaly experience some balance problems. One doctor I went to about a year ago asked me to walk about 15 ft arcoss his office and said I shuffle my feet and have Parkinsons. I have been taking Requip but it rreally doesnt help. Several friends have told me the symptons sound like spinal stenosis. Does anyone else have these symptons? What does it sound like I have to you? Would the leg tremors come from PARKINSONS or could they also be attributed to back problems?

Of course your leg symptoms could indeed be coming from a back problem, but you may also have something else going on as well.

You need to be seen by a specialist and get some answers.

When you wake in the morning.. you are stiff because the back is most hydrated during that time and if you have any swelling also.. it puts more pressure there. This was explained to me by my present physical therapist. Makes sense. Plus with arthritis.. there is much inflammation that comes with that alone.

Don't accept one doctors opinion.. get out there and get some other opinions going.

Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon. Take care. Tammy:wave:

Hi Maroon,

I have lumbar spinal stenosis (and also had several herniated & torn discs). I can't tell you why you have the leg tremors, but I can tell you that I had tremors in my hands, arm, and legs until I had a little pain relief from my back problems.

I guess the pain was so bad I would shake.Sometimes I would be sitting still or other times while trying to do something. Since i've had 3 epidural steroid injections and it relieved the stabbing, shooting sciatica pain quite a bit, I am not tremoring as much. But I do still have horrible pain in my butt and legs which i'm told is probably due to the constriction of the stenosis. I also noticed that when I got other injections in my back from my rheumy, sometimes that would hurt so much that my whole body was trembling.

Hi,
It sounds like you need a second opinion and maybe even a third. I would go to a spine specialist (with a fellowship), then go from there. Many of yoru symptoms sound like back trouble, but I had the same symptoms at first and they thought I had MS for several years. So Dr.'s can be wrong, don't just take the word of one Dr., you deserve to know for sure all that may be wrong with you. I don't know anything about parkinson's but I do know way more than I would like to know about back trouble, don't cheat yourself out of good medical care.

Good Luck & God Bless

Carol
