Hello Everyone, Today I had the radio frequency lesioning on my facet joints at L3, L4, L5 on both sides. It went well, as far as I can tell-only time will tell how long it will last. My Physiatrist was using some new machine for the nerve burning, so everyone including the vendor of the machine had to be in the room with my rear end hanging out there! Oh, well-what we won't put up with for pain relief. He numbed up the area so each time he put the needle in for the lesioning it did not hurt so badly. Only one time it hurt so that my head shot up from the table, and I asked for more fentanyl. I've found you have to ask, they can be kind of stingy with the sedative/pain killers.

One thing made the experience kind of interesting-the patient before me was a pitcher for a major sports team. And I was on the gurney right next to him-kind of cool! Anyway, I am icing and taking it easy today. My husband has our 4 kids at the movies-bless him! He is a great dad. Take care, Kera4

Glad ur doing okay Kera! Ya.. you lose all sense of modesty between having children and being in pain for sure!!

Glad that RF is working for you.. and we have considered doing this for my SI joint at some point. It's nice to hear success stories!

Keep the ice going gal! Sound like you have a wonderful support system, as do I. Makes all the difference!

Be well! Take care. Tammy:wave:

Is this the same as Radio Frequency Ablation?

Dear Mary Anne, Yes it is the same thing-they also call it Rhizotomy. I am actually not feeling so bad today, some stiffness in my lower back, but not so much pain. So far so good! Kera4

Kera, glad to hear that it went over well. Hope you have a good and fast recovery! :)

Did the kids go see Cars the movie? I've heard it is a good one!

Dear Kycountrygirl, Yes, they did see CARS! My husband said the kids all liked it. Our kids are 3, 5, 10 and 12 (two boys and two girls), so it is hard to find a movie to please them all! This one they all seemed to enjoy.

My back is recovering pretty well. Now I will try to do some of the stabilizing exercises and see how that goes. It seems like I recovered faster this time than the first RFA. My doctor said that sometimes the first time not all the nerve fibers get burned, so the second time there is more pain relief. We'll see! Take care, Kera4
