I have a question for all of you..

I am a waitress (professional coffee slinger is what I call it), and have been for almost two years. I LOVE my job... I love the people I work with, I love my bosses(who are also the owners), the cooks, everybody. They have become almost like family to me.

The thing is, with all the back pain, I can't even finish a day at work anymore, even when I work only one or two days a week, which I have been doing. I can't afford to not work, but at least I know if I have to take some time off I will have a job waiting for me when (if??) I get better.

My question is.. what is it when you collect disability, how do you qualify for it, and how do you go about getting it? Can it be temporary (like 6 months to a year) or is it something for people who can never work again? I don't want to spend anymore time not working than I have to, but it's really getting to the point that I CAN'T work anymore. Any help would be great.

To qualify you can not be employed and must be expected to continue to be unemployed due to your disability for at least one year.

You should have loads of medical documenations to back up your disability therefore, you should be currently seeing a physician about your "bad" back.

For more info go to: http://www.ssa.gov/disability/

Better yet, speak w/a Social Security Disability Attorney (one who deals ONLY with SSD cases) to find out what your chances are. The consultation is FREE.

Good luck!
