For a few weeks now my ears have had this plugged up feeling as if I have this tremendous amount of wax build up. I've been feeling very sluggish lately, I feel dizzy when I walk and very unbalanced, also sometimes I hear noises in my ears like soft drumming or beating that sometimes gets faster. I can't sleep and I feel a little weak. It gets worse at night. Do these symptoms come from plugged up ears? Maybe a blood pressure problem? I've tried swishing my ears out with hot water as I've been told it helps, but it only gets worse. I would see a doctor but I know he'll want to swish my ears out and it would probably make me go insane as I also suffer from panic attacks. Is this too serious to leave alone? I will indeed get a check-up but I wanted to come here first to see if there's an easy way out of this. Please any advice would be helpful..

I'm not a doctor but I know what your experiencing because I feel the same way.I am dizzy in sperts of time, but if my ear pops I get a little relief untill it feels unequal agin?Sometimes it's better for a couple weeks and then it's back. I feel unstable and it's hard to concentrate some dizzyness and alot of unequalness and popping to get equal(You know when you blow on one side of your nose and your ear pops).I went to the doctor before and he perscibed deprox which is supposed to flush hard wax out. He saw a big peice of wax that's why he said I was dizzy and uneven, but I've had this problem for a long time. The wax he was talking about ended up falling out but I was still uneven. It did feel better for awhile though. It's just now I have the same feeling and I've been using the deprox to see if it will help, but it hasn't I had my mom look in my ear with a flashlight and she said that she could see clear back to my ear drum so I know theres no wax causing the problem this time. I am uneven, offbalance,I have a soap crackle sound in there and an occasional hammer sound. I've had the beating sound before too it's not fun. Also I know that it's bad but I stuck a bobbypin slightly in my ear to see if I could get any wax and it felt so good because it itched my ear for me. Now I do it alot because another symptom I'm having is a itchy ear.Mostly in the morning after I slept the night through.Oh one other thing is when I wake my ear is always moist. I don't know why? I stay away from water and never get it in my ear because I'm terrified of not being able to hear. I had lots of tubes put in my ear when I was a kid and also a busted ear drum once so I'm always leery of feeling like I'm underwater. I have anxiety attacks as well because of feeling trapped with these ears. Sorry I had no advise for you,but I do have sympathy.

:blob_fire Ok Girls, I had written a long reply and somehow miraculously  erased it. Oh well...What I wanted to tell you, Sherri & Bev is that I am a male and have had tremendous problems with my ears as well. Every since I was a little kid I had this problem or that problem. Ear infections for me just always seem to be a way of life. My ears also drain and that oozing liquid is running out of my ears when I wake up of the morning - I HATE IT, DO YOU HEAR ME - ABSOLUTELY HATE IT!!! It drives me literally crazy.:jester: It is the biggest aggravation that I have dealt with since I have been alive on this great earth. I too Sherri have used a bobby pin in my ear because I too have always had an over abundance of ear wax in my ears ever since I could remember. Sometimes I gently use a bobby pin in my ear in order to make sure that a big hunk of wax is not lodged in my ear canal. I am well aware as you are Sherri that we are not suppose to do this but sometimes it is necessary for the relief that we so desperately need. I live in a house that has three cats and a small dog and have had allergies for years and years. I seem to notice it more when I am around animals. You would think that I would have had an immunity built up by now - some days I think that I do and other days I wonder. What would make our ears drain like that while we are in our sleep anyway??? I hate it, despise it to the fullest. I would give anything to make it stop. Do you have any suggestions? Please let me know if you find out anything and I will return the favor. I hope that you get some relief as soon as possible. Take care and keep the forum going.
Kind Regards,
Mark T. :D

hey bev, sounds like you may have an inner ear infection, which won't be helped by anything you're doing to you're outer / middle ear area. Let me ask you, can you breath clearly through your nose? If not, your eustatian tubes may be blocked where they drain at the back of your throat. This is sometimes caused by allergies. Try snorting warm salt water a couple times a day... mildly salty, you can taste it beforehand... should taste like the ocean... this will allow your inner ear to drain and hopefully over a few days you'll see some improvement. Claritin also helps cut down on the mucus covering the eustatian tubes.

Thanks everyone for your replies....it helps to read about other people's experiences. I have to admit I used to use a bobby pin too, mostly just because I loved the feeling which I guess was a bad move.
mhk4000...I never thought of doing that. I can't always breathe clearly through my nose, some days are different. I'll try your suggestion with the salt water and see what happens, thanks so much.
