ds has 5 bottles of 6 ounces of formula a day he also has baby rice twice a day. when do you think i need to drop his last feed? i have to wake him for this last feed which i do feel is a bit cruel to wake a sleeping baby but i understand till a certain point they need this feed.he also gains weight very well he gains between 4 and 8 ounces a week on average although regularly he gains more like 11,or 12 ounces. my question is what is the point at which you stop doing this last feed? anyone with experience in having dropped their babies last feed would be much appreciated if you could share how and when you did this tia:)

When is his last feed. I find that my DS, 3 months old and 19 pounds, can go all night with out a feeding. My PED said that is the child is over 12 pounds, they feel comfortable telling you to let them sleep. If I feed DS at 8pm, and he goes to bed at 9, I do not wake him to feed him again before we go to bed.

I would not wake him and see what happens. If he wakes and wants to eat, then I would feed him, but I found that DS went to sleep and did not wake to eat! It was wonderful! Even though DH and I are awake at 10pm, we want our time together too!

How much is he eating when you wake him? I use to wake DS at 11-12:00 to feed him and he was only taking about 2 ounces, then he would sleep through. I quite waking him and he quit waking to feed in the middle of the night.

i was giving the last feed about 11pm. i have uped his bottls to 7 ounces today and he is having 4 of them and 2 baby rice feeds. he seems to have dropped a bottle himself somehow today his last one is likely to be at 9pm tonight. i am hoping to gently help him time bottles a bit better tomorrow so his last one is around 8pm which he should then fall straight to sleep after judging by his normal time to fall asleep that is if he does not wake at 5am again:rolleyes: i gues sit is all trial and error and our littles one will do as they please in the end after all thety are the ones who are really in control of us lol. thanks skeeter i will see how ds goes tonight fingers crossed.
