Harvard educated Dr. Mark Levine chief & senior staff physician at the Molecular and Clinical Nutrition section of the NIDDK has recently completed Safety trials phase 1 on the use of IV vitamin C as a cancer treatment.
His committee has reviewed several cases where high doses of vitamin c was delivered intravenously and had very promising results. Vitamin C given IV will saturate the bodies cells at a much higher concentration than oral c can accomplish. IV vitamin C has been researched and used in the past with recorded success and does not carry the side effects of chemotherapy. In fact, it may be considered to be used in adjunction with conventional treatment. Dr. Levine would like to see further research performed.
University of Kansa Medical Center physician Jeanne Drisko has $375,000 for a trial of ovarian cancer pts. In Montreal, Mcgill University oncologist Wilson Miller has $300,000 to find the maximum safe doses for treating various cancers.

Wasn't Linus Pauling drummed out of the medical profession for claiming that Vitamin C cures cancer? Will he be rehabilitated now? I think the entire alternative vitamin C theory is that cancer is caused by a virus and vitC stops it by strengthening the cell wall so that the next generation of viruses can't get into it. I wonder when/if that will ever be accepted/proved by medical science?
Most animals produce similar vast mega-quantities of Vitamin C when under stress (via the Krebs cycle, if you remember your high school science class). Perhaps introducing high quantities of Vitamin C is just duplicating this ability that humans lost somewhere along the evolutionary line for some reason or other.

Hi Tara,
Vitamin C is able to break down the protein coating that protects viruses which leads to their destruction by the bodies defense system. It has the ability to enter all cells even cancer cells. You're right that it does strengthen the cell wall too.
Humans have lost the ability to produce vitamin C unlike many animals which do, but animals who are under stress ie: infection, also benefit from additional vitamin C as their bodies may not be able to keep up with the increased need.
Let's hope that Linus Pauling is "rehabilitated" sometime soon. I find the new research very interesting and exciting.

Let's hope that Linus Pauling is "rehabilitated" sometime soon. I find the new research very interesting and exciting.I'm deeply skeptical. I'm more inclined to expect that the study will be discredited eventually. I'm amazed that they were allowed to go so far. I think there is some deep commercial interest involved in suppressing this.
I make my own vitamin C, complete with all the esters, quinones, bioflavonoids and coenzymes that come with the natural production of Vitamin C. I make it the same way Captain Cook did when he sailed around the world in the 1700's, in order to protect his crew from scurvy. Yet how many people realize that fermentation is the way Vitamin C is made, and that it's an easy and fun diy project?
I think the only way that this can get official approval is if it can only be done by someone with expensive equipment, hospitals and doctors, and needs special operations that will generate as much revenue as current surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments. But then, I'm very skeptical :-).

The doctors (in Boston MA) told my Mom that she had a form of mono, Epstein Barr but they misdiagnosed her. She had cancer but I'm not sure what kind, by the time they diagnosed her correctly she was in the end stage. She was given mega doses of vitamins and it excellerated the spread of cancer throughout her body, she passed away a couple months later. I don't have cancer but have lost SEVERAL family members to it and personally I would not let them use vitamins on me as part of my treatment. JMO.
Sorry if I sound bitter but 19 years later I still hold a lot of anger and resentment. I hold the doctors accountable for 1 the misdiagnosis and 2 causing the cancer to spread like wildfire. I lost my mom as a teeneger and miss her as much today as I did the day she passed away.
