WHy would you think that muscle pain is related to HIV? No,it's not.

What was your risk? chris

i am 27 and married. 8 yrs. ago i had two different boyfrieds w/in a 2 yr span. i had unprotected sex with both about 8 yrs. ago and i am having a lot of muscle pain and tingling in my arms. when i started to date my husband we had sex and a couple months later he developed the flu, about a yr. ago he had a swolen lymph node under his arm pit. we have been married for 3.5 yrs and dated for three. i am just concerned. feeling a lot of unanxeity, bc i am in a good place now... i don't know if any of this is related but i am nervous, its something that is real and you have to think about.

toe nail fungus is not related, and most women do experience yeast infections at some point... and everyone experiences muscle pain. you're fine.

Here's the deal...if you're concerned, then get tested. Knowing is better than not knowing and, since you really haven't told us specific risk factors (like the kind of sexual activity you participated in) I would be remiss to suggest that "you're fine." You may, in fact be OK, but only a test will tell you for certain. chris

yeah, sorry i didn't mean to just say "you're fine" and completely dismiss the possibility of an encounter i know nothing about, i just meant that if you pick up random things about yourself, ie. toe nail fungus, or saying that maybe you have a cramp in your finger, that doesn't mean that you have symptoms of hiv. if you think your risk was significant, go and get tested, there's nothing else you can do, and theres no sense in picking and pulling at every part of your body to find something worth worrying about.

thank you for the insight. my anxiety is from the sex i had w/ the 2 diff boyfriends bc they had many sexual partners i later come to find out. even though this was 8 yrs ago i know symptoms can still occur in that time frame.

if you go and get tested, should i got my gen dr. or go to a health clinic. and how long will it take to get the results?

i am scared to death, the anxiety is eating at me. all i keep thinking about is the many partners that my boyfriends had many years ago and then the fact that my now husband got the flu 2-3 months after we had slept together. i need to get the courage up to get tested.

please advise....

MOre than likely, if you go to your doctor, he/she will give you a prescription for lab work unless he does it right in his office. You will have to ask. On the other hand, if you go to the health department, the test is generally free.

Whatever you decide to do, just do it. chris
