I'm planning on getting a make over, just because I'm sort of in a phase right now, wanting to change things up a bit being that I'm almsot 20 years old...still young, but I'm at the time where I need to be a little more...adult. I feel like I need to, and I feel like I want to, and this make over is the first step in that direction. Small steps, people! I just don't know how you go about doing that. Any idea? Have you gotten a make over before?
Thanks!

I have changed up my looks a lot within the past few years.. here is what I've done:
1. Changed up my hair.. instead of a plain, barely layered cut, I got side bangs and razored my layers to make my hair look more interesting, but still long and easy to style. I also got some highlights for summer, and in the fall sometimes I like to do my hair darker, but temporary.
2. Makeup.. I practiced doing my makeup (especially eyes) in new ways.. I figured out what worked best for me and stuck to it. Go to a makeup counter in a department store (or Sephora!).. a lot of places will do free makeovers on you and you can get some new ideas. I love going to the Benefit counter.. such cute makeup!
3. Got into shape.. still working on getting into "perfect" shape, but I lost some weight and toned up my body. I find different things I like to do to keep active and eat healthier.
4. Attitude change... I have been struggling with self image problems and mood swings/depression at times, so I went in for my first visit to see a counselor last week. I am now going to see a counselor once a week to get help on my problem. I still consider myself much more confident than I was years ago, and now I'm working on it some more! Confidence is sexy... and I think it's one of the biggest parts of a makeover!!
5. Clothes... a great way to look older and different is to get some new stuff. I tried to find more clothes that are flattering for my shape and don't look too young for my age. I still wear plenty of casual clothes, but I've added dressier, professional looking items to my wardrobe as well. I think clothes are always a great way to make yourself over!! Take along a friend for advice.

Let us know what you decide to do when you do your makeover :)!! I am about the same age and get bored with things so I love to change things up and do a mini-makeover!
