I've been having lower left abdominal pain for a year and a half and a doctor recently suggested to me that I might have a polyp that is causing pain. I was under the impression that polyps do not hurt. I am going to visit a gastroenterologist soon, but I was wondering if anyone knows if polyps can cause chronic pain?

Mine was not...though I imagine that if it got big enough it could cause an obstruction which would then cause pain. Just a guess. Get a colonoscopy and that will give you the answers you need!

Take care,

Hey, i was at my local gp and was refered to see a specialist today. My gp told me that i have the polyps, but when the specialist took a look, (he used a telescope thing and blew air through it) he advised there was nothing out of the ordinary, but i can feel them on the opening to my anus, as if they were piles. How did he miss these, what should i do?

Did you tell the doc you could feel something? Are they bothering you? I have hemmorhoids, but they don't bother me very often, so there is no need to seek treatment for them (I think) unless they become a problem.
