Hi everyone, I have some ?s- new to this board. I had surgery on Feb. 19 and developed an infection- took Keflex (antibiotic)then reacted and now have horrible acid pains in my stomach. I also have lost my voice and it's been a month and a half??! I was on Protonix for a while- didn't really work. Now as of today I am on Prevacid- 30mg 2x a day. I have also gained like 9 lbs in a couple weeks- is that a side effect of these acid meds? If so, what can I do? I don't eat dairy or wheat, but I do eat plain yogurt- anything else I should consider? Also- the dr put me on a nasal spray for allergies (becanase) and also flovent for the shortness of breath I have. I'm only 29 and have so much go on I'm so frusterated! Do any of you know anything about these meds? and can I ever stop taking the prevacid?! I hate being on meds. I always react badly to everything. I'm only 5' and was about 93 pounds- now 102. As you already have acid type pain, it could be acid reflux and shortness of breath can be due to acid reflux rather than any lung problems, so you may possibly be on the wrong meds.

Anyway, I would strongly suggest that you go and consult an ND and go down the alternative. This would make a lot more sense for you, especially as you hate taking meds and react badly to them. ND's are train in homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicine and naturopathy, all of which could really help you.
