I saw my doctor today for GERD/LPR symptoms, she doesn't differentiate between the two and the treatment she said is the same. She gave me Prevacid solutab (dissolve under the tongue), and suggested the generic version of Zantac (ramitadine) which is OTC. I also asked her about Gaviscon, since I read somewhere that that worked well for GERD sufferers. She said that would be the only antacid in that category she would recommend since it doesn't cause rebound effect, so i am going to try all three and see if I can get back to some semblance of a normal life.
I've had burping, burning pain in chest area (not heartburn though), clicking in my ears and post nasal drip and coughing. She said the gastro problems cause a lot of the ENT problems and they are interrelated.

It seems a lot of people are taking Nexium and Prilosec but I don't hear too much about Prevacid, so just fishing for input.

Hope everyone has a burn free day...:blob_fire

Hey! I've been taking Prevacid for years now and it works great for me. I was on Nexium first, but it didn't work as well. I switched to the Solutab a year ago and prefer it to the capsule..

I have been on the Prevacid solutabs for the last 3 months. (Before that, I was on Protonix for about 3 years and Nexium for 1 month.) I am taking two a day and have seen a significant improvement in my symptoms. My 24hr. Ph testing confirmed I have GERD and I suspect I have LPR because I have many of those symptoms also. My primary symptoms are belching, chronic cough, PND--no heartburn. For me, the Prevacid solutabs have worked the best so far. I like the taste and the fact it disolves before hitting my stomach. The most difficult thing for me is to remember to take the second dose 30 minutes before dinner.

If you suspect LPR, I hope you are taking the Prevacid twice a day. From everything I read on this, the PPI's are only effective on LPR when taken two times per day.

Good luck finding something that works for you.:)
