I wasn't sure where to post this question, so hopefully this is the right forum. ok i haven't told anyone about this yet and for some reason im really scared to have some doctor look at it "down there". Im so scared of going to the gyno, just thinking baout it scares me! I am almost sure it's not an std. I've a looked at a million pictures and descriptions of stds and it doesn't sound like any std. I have this little spot on the inner lip part down there. The only thing it looks like is skin cancer the melonma kind. It's about half the size of a pencil eraser and it is completely flat and causes no pain. Im not sure of the color it just looks dark. I think its shades of blue, brown or black. The color in it is not even like some parts of the spot looks lighter than the rest of it. Also the edges of it are faded in some areas. Also it is not even like the one side doesn't match the other side. It's a werid flat shape. I'm very worried about this and i'm almost sure it's not an std. It looks exactly like melonma from all the pictures i have seen. Is it possible for someone to get skin cancer down there? Does anyone know what this could be? Please help!

Thank you, Kate

Yes it is possible to get skin cancer down there. I know it is scary to go to the gyno, but you really need to go. It is not so bad and you can request for someone else to be in the room while you are being examined. Bring someone you are comfortable with. :) Good Luck.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like any STD I've ever heard of. I was scared to go to the gyno my first time, but it's really not as bad as you think. :)

You should go to your doctor or a gyno to get peace of mind. You can get skin cancer anywhere, even if it is an area that is never exposed to the sun.

Having the gyno just look at that area is not going to hurt in any way. You just have to get over being embarrassed.

I remember my first visit to the gyno. I was 12 and had an awful yeast infection. He did a pelvic exam and everything. To me the worst part was the exam table faced the window. The doctor's office was in this huge high rise building on the 7th floor. I could see people working in the building across the street. There was no blinds or curtains on the room window. I could see these people sitting at their desks working. I was scared that if I could see them, then they could see me with my legs spread open. And the doctor was male adding to the stressful situation.

So, go to the doctor, and try to get a female doctor with an office that has curtains. Then you will be less embarrassed.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.:)
