Ok so I read all of the posts but I still don't know if I have OCD and I was wondering if the people out there that have it can help me... These are my symptoms;
-i spell out words
-count the letters in the words and they always need to be an even number
-count my steps when I walk
-need words to be spelled correctly
-always counting to 16 in my head
These are just some of the things I do and I was wondering if anyone with OCD does the same thing so I have an idea of what is going on
Thanks

Hey, OCD can revolve around numbers and symmetry (such as even numbers etc). I used to do many of the same things, especially when I was a lot younger. Do you find it causes interference in your life?
If it does, I recommend seeing a doctor and inquiring about OCD. A lot of people experience obsessive compulsive behaviour, but do not necessarily have a disorder, and some people with OCD have real mild subclinical symptoms, some people have it real severe. A lof of OCD symptoms can overlap with other conditions, especially anxiety disorders. A doc will be able to make an informed decision about whether or not you have OCD.

Yes they do interfere. In high school and also now in college I will be taking a test or writing notes and I lose track and start spelling out a word or counting the letters and trying to makethe letters in the word even and it gets annoying. I try to make myself stop but its really hard. I think I will go see a doctor. Lol
