Ok so I read all of the posts but I still don't know if I have OCD and I was wondering if the people out there that have it can help me... These are my symptoms:
-i spell out words
-count the letters in the words and they always need to be an even number
-count my steps when I walk
-need words to be spelled correctly
-always counting to 16 in my head
These are just some of the things I do and I was wondering if anyone with OCD does the same thing so I have an idea of what is going on
Thanks

I do some of the things, but they're more of OCD habits when I do them, rather than a compulsion to eliminate anxiety from an obsession. I do spell out words, usually with my fingers on an imaginary, "in-space" keyboard. I don't count letters in words- I tend to focus on syllables. There's something about phrases in fast-paced songs with seven syllables and cleverly rhyming words that make me get fixated on them. To give you an example, I finally found "One Jump Ahead" from Aladdin to download for my computer. I've always been fixated on this song ever since I was a little kid, and I found out that the one line I have to listen to over-and-over again has seven syllables when sung: "Next time, gonna use a nom de plume." It's said quickly, so "use a" sounds like one syllable. Pretty much any song that I find catchy has seven syllables in the verses.

yeah i do all of that. I usually spell words out on my fingers, just like if I'm laying in bed..ect.. They have to start on my thumb and end on my pinky, haha or if they are like a whole sentence it has to start on my thumb and end on my pinky no matter how many time i have to keep adding words. haha pretty weird i know! I also count letters... use imaginary keyboards to type. haha and I often count things out in my head...ugh and another one I tend to do lately has been translating words from english to french to spanish to russian in my head. haha not that im fluent in all of those only 3...and i can communicate in the other sooo ugh I just always translate stuff in my head,... argh! lol oh well
