I am being treated for foot problems by a podiatrist and he said that my x-rays showed striations in the bone. He said that my bones looked like the bones of a 50 year old. So, I went to my family doctor who sent me right over to have the test done today. I do have a history of fractures. My bones have always broken easily. The guy who did the test said one of my numbers was a -.6. He explained a little but I still found it confusing. He did say that this means that it's probably pre-osteopenia. He said the radiologist would read it and get back to my doctor with the results. Can anyone offer me any advice?

I dont' know what a striation refers to but for bone density the test results are given in T scores. If it's minus -1.0 is osteopenia (pre osteoporosis). You might have -.6 so you don't have osteoporosis in the bone area they tested based on the score they told you. Your bone is a little less dense than is normal. This can be reversed with Calcium, Vit D and exercise. I would ask your doctor about what to do next.
