Hey everyone, well, after months of being sick, and negative test after negative test, the answers are finnaly rolling in. Just to catch everyone up, I started coming here in febuary, knowing I didn't feel well, started w/ a possible thyroid disorder, well that test was negative, so went thru other tests, in the mean time started haveing digestive dproblems, thought might be my gallbladder, so went thru ultrasound, cat scan, mri, blood tests, and found nada. I have had so many blood tests done, they have checked for everything, CREST syndrome, raynods, thyroid, fibroidmilagah, and several other desiase that I can't remember the names of. My gastro finnally did an upper endoscopy last week, and found I have a hyiatal hernia, well wow, we found something!! I'm on Pronix 2 times a day and Levsin 4 times a day for that. and he took biopsys of my esophigus, my stomach and my small intestine, and ordered a HIDA scan.
Well he called yesterday w/ the results, first he asked what nationality I have in me, I said indian, as I am a 1/4 blood, then he asked about italian, I was thinking, "what is he getting at" I said yes, 1/8 blood, my great grandfather was padro franconie.....can ya get a more itatian name....anyeway, he said the biopsy of my small intestine has indicated I could have a deises called Celiac spur.....wow wow, I am sick! Was starting to think I was a head case!!! Anyway, this deises is where the body can not handal gluten, whick is found in wheat and barley, ( and many other things) it destroies these tenticales in your intestine that absortbe nutreiants, and it looks like that is what I have.......I went in this morning, for my HIDA scan ( man that test sucked.....got sick as a dog) and my Celiac blood screening, I should have the last test results back next week, I am so relieved I finnally can put a name w/ how sick I am, and I am NOT a head case.......that was really starting to bug me...I had pretty much given up on continueing the tests, I never schedualed any follow up visits, and it was my husband that made me go thru w/ the endoscopy, I was tired of tests, and no answers, I gotta love that man.
Well in short this means a complete life change for me, my eating habits, will never be the same, and all my family and friends will have to know and be willing to help, so if we go to gatherings there are things for me to eat to. Thanks again fo everyones support thru these last few months, and I will keep you posted on my treatments and further test results.
Love to all, Em

Well I am glad you found the problem. I think for some types such as Irish --Celiac disease happens in 1 in every 125 people. For the rest of the population it's about 1 in 500.

Gluten as you probably already know is present in wheat, oats, barley and rye. And, you going to have to become a label reader because there are many--many things that contain wheat by products as well as barley malt sweetners.
Rice, potatoes and corn does not contain gluten--- I hope you like them!!!

There is a probiotic bacteria that claims to repair the damaged intestinal villi. You can do some searching and find out. It's Lactobacillus reuteri-- just do a search for reuteri.

I certainly wish you well----Harry

Hi
I found a website where they sell different digestive enzymes and one of them was an enzyme combination that apparently for the first time can be used by people with celiac disease in order to digest the gluten in food and introduce more of gluten containing products in your diet.
The enzyme combination is called "Glutenzyme Plus". You can do a search and find what's available.

I haven't tried it my self as I am still uncertain about me having celiac disease (still waiting for blood test results) but it will be great if this works !!!
Good luck
