I'm trying to find the name of a skin condition caused by diabetes.
Its usually on the lower legs and involves the 'freckles' or 'liver spots' left by the iron in heme pigment.
A general term would be Diabetic Dermopathy but I was looking for the more precise, scientific term that my doctor rattled off at an incomprehensible mile a minute.

I beleive your possibly looking for ''Acanthosis Nigricans''.Where yrs of high high insulin spills over into the skin cells and causes them to grow abnormal and discolored.A disease diabetics can easily get.....
I first thought of Acanthosis Nigricans but FoolsGold posted about Diabetic Dermopathy of the lower legs involving 'freckles' or 'liver spots’...
Acanthuses Nigerians is more of a brown discoloration patch found mostly on the back of the neck (which sometimes include skin tags) and around the groin area and under the armpits.
Maybe FoolsGold will give us more information.

I was thinking maybe it was Necrobiosis Lipoidica Diabeticorum.
It is similar to diabetic dermopathy and it generally affects the lower leg. The difference is that the spots are fewer and are larger and deeper. Also the skin becomes raised, yellow and waxy in appearance often with a purple border.
My husband's doctor gave him a booklet and both of these skin disorders are mentioned together.
