Several years ago, I had an ulcer, and my doctor put me on Paxil in addition to the ulcer meds.....he said that anxiety was causing the ulcers, therefore the Paxil. Well, over 2 months ago, I started having symptoms of an ulcer again-burning pain in upper stomach, and just the thought of drinking coffee or eating anything spicy made me nauseus. Ok, I called my new doctor and told him I thought I had an ulcer, and so he prescribed Protonix. I started taking it and felt a little better, but then a couple of weeks after that, I decided to quit taking the Paxil-I had gained over 40 pounds! Well, I quit cold turkey, and the withdrawals are horrible-extreme nausea, dizziness, etc...but along with it, I have symptoms of an ulcer again-or something else. I have constant nausea, weakness, a burning, gnawing pain above my belly button close to my ribs, in the middle-the pain and nausea are constant, sometimes I have a slight fever, and I am unable to get out of bed most days. I have still been taking the Protonix, as well as Phenegren 3 times a day. Lately, another symptom has occurred-inablity to sleep! I am only getting around 1-2 hours a night, this has been the last few days now. Could this be another ulcer or am I still in Paxil withdrawal after nearly 3 months? If it is an ulcer, why isn't it going away with meds? I went to my doctor yesterday, and he referred me to a GI doctor to get tests done, but my appointment isn't till next Friday, the closest I could get...I feel horrible and am so sick of this nausea (not throwing up, just burning, aching pain and nausea)-any ideas what this could be? Oh, btw, I also have acid reflux disease and a hiatal hernia.

Quitting Paxil without the directions of a doctor can be dangerous... LOTS of people wind up in the ER from doing that.
However I don't think withdrawal from it would take 3 months.
