I have had relatively constant abdominal pain for about 2 months now. Never had any GI problems before. Is all on the left side. Started as tenderness under my left rib then varied in location from upper left to mid left to my back with occasional pelvic pain. The first few weeks I was extremely gassy and bloated, but now the gas isn't as bad and I hardly have any bloating. My abdomen is also very tender at times when I lean over the counter/crib/shopping cart. The pain is mostly vague, varies in intensity, but is constant. It went away for 2 weeks of the last 10 and has been constantly there for the last 6 weeks. It doesn't seem related to eating or bowel movement. When it first occurred, the doctor did an xray and told me there was a lot of gas in my colon; she thought it was trapped and would go away. When it came back and persisted, I went to a GI doc. The only test he did was a colonoscopy (no bloodwork or anything). All was clear so he told me I have IBS. I told him it's mostly upper pain and not affecting my bowel movements and my bowel movements don't relieve the pain at all, but he still insisted I have IBS. It's not a crampy pain - varies from a burning upper pain to a more localized tender mid pain to tender back pain. It does seem not as bad when I'm lying down, though I do wake up with very mild pain. Do my symptoms sound like IBS to those of you who have it?
Thanks for any input.

I think you should have your gallbladder checked. Anyone who I know has had gallbladder problems has said the pain is around the ribcage and can carry over to the back.
