I had a couple of Dr's appointments in the last few weeks (other health problems) and my blood pressure was extremely low 82/52. Both seemed somewhat concerned. Asthma doctor wants to do a tilt table test because I get dizzy and am very fatigued. Has anyone had this done?

I have heard that low blood pressure can cause heart problems because of blood pooling since it moves to slow. Any insight would be helpful. I noticed most people here have high BP. I'm normally around 100/70.

Thanks

My mom had the same problem for a while. She tried to stop drinking diet pepsi and it dropped way low and stayed low. The doctor told her to drink more diet pop with caffine and monitor it to see how it works.

Yeah, my bp has gotten as low as 88/50ish. It scared me, but my dr.s weren't too concerned. They said it's much better than having high bp. Mine is usually around 108/80ish.

I have just spent the last week dizzy, very tired, in fact have just gone to bed and slept sound, even during the day, which is unusual for me. I took my blood pressure last week at walmart and my bp was 90/50 and my heart rate was 80. I have always had good blood pressure, around 125/60 heart rate 60, so now I am worried and have lost weight this past 6 months intentionally. I am wondering would the losing weight have any affect on my bp. I now weigh 130, weighed 150 before. I am still getting palpitations too. I am glad to know this site is here for us to compare our worries. I am going to try the gatorade.

HI
I have extremely low blood pressure. It usually runs about 72/58 but my doctor over the years has determined that this is just normal for me.
Anyway I just wanted to let you know that they tell me unless you are feeling dizzy or overly tired low blood pressure is not a bad thing.

Can you please explain what the Gatorade does for low blood pressure? I am intrigued by this. Thanx

I know this will sound trivial and I apologize in advance but I heard a cardiologist on TV say that licorice would increase blood pressure. I hope you get your BP right real soon. It is really a drag and affects your "total self".

My blood pressure is also unusually low- 82/40. I seem to get dizzy only when I get up too fast, esp. when getting out of bed. My doctor didn't seem too concerned and gave me some symptoms to look out for- dizziness, clamminess, nausa, and palpitations. I have only experienced these symptoms once after recovering from the flu.

I had similar problems, but it progressed to sleeping practically ALL the time, was super dizzy often and eventually I started to pass out several times a day. I was also cold even during sumer heat. I was so tired and fuzzy headed I could not stand to think about taking a shower, going to store, could not concentrate. Even got so bad I started to be unable to fininsh supper. I had a tillt table test, cardiac work ups ,labs etc.

Cardiololgist diagnosed me correctly as having neurocardiogenic mediated syncope defect. This is more than simpole orthostatic hypotension or vaso-vagal; and is soemtimes referred to as NMH (neurally mediated hypotension).Essentially it when the vagus nerve sends faulty signals to the heart (regulating blood rate) and blood vessels' nerves (they contract or dialate to regulate blood pressure).

Am on a few meds to control it and manage symptoms. Took a while to get the right combination and dose but now have a near normal BP and minimal problems. Most people hit the right Rx fairly quickly once they have a proper diagnose. I was fortunate to have a sharp internist who sent me to my electrocardiologist.

Might be nothing for you or may be this, so I thought I would mention it as it is fairly uncommon (and most docs blow off low BP until it gets really bad). My BP had gone as low as 60/40-something

I have the same thing. I just started midodrine. Low blood pressure isn't a problem until you start to faint/have episodes. I tend to feel fine, then suddenly I get very weak and need to use the bathroom and urinate myself into dehydration. My episodes are at the same time each month so I take meds at that time.

I gave had borderline low bp - but it has been my norm. It was in the 90's/60's. Even when I was pg it was only low100's/60's (my baby is 3mos now). Now, the past month I have been VERY tired and the past few days feeling dizzy when I stand up and seeing "snow" (like when the cable is out on your tv). I am visiting my parents this week and they have a blood pressure cuff/machine. My blood pressure has been very low. It is usually in the 80's/50's. Sometimes as low as 80's/40's. My bp while up and around during the day is as low as my bp when I take it in the middle of the night after sleeping, which seems strange to me. Anyhow, I am not sure why my bp is low but I need to have it checked out I suppose.

I have donw a tilt table test due to the dizziness and "snow" I would get in the past. I passed the test fine though. Never figured out why that would happen so much in the past but it wasn't bp related. But now I am wondering if that and my fatigue is bp related. And although I had a baby 3mos ago I was better with my energy levels but they have all of a sudden dropped drastically. In the mornings I am not rested well, even if son slept well. I am tired throughout the day. And am tired by 8pm and completely exhausted by 10pm. Hoping to figure it out soon...I don't want to be so tired!

Try Gatorade. I did about two weeks ago and I seem to be fine now. Went to my doc but she did no pay any attention to the low blood pressure. Mine was 90/56, 96/45 etc. and I was dizzy, losing my balance and sleeping all day, which I am not a sleeper during the day. So I tried Gatorade and am not sure if this brought my pressure up but now it is 105/65 or around that number.
