Hi,
I have been taking pain killers for about 6 years now for chronic pain, and in the past couple of months, every time after I eat I get really bad stomach pain. My stomach feels constantly swollen. The past few days I have been vomiting and having horrile stomach pains and headaches. Is it possible i developped an ulcer? I usually take these pain killers on an empty stomach bec I hardly have an appetite anymore.
I went to a doctor today who forbid me form taking any more pain killers and she gave me Prevacid. does it help or does it cause more problems?'
Any info and advice would be greatly appreciated!!

the prevacid most likely will not hurt you at all, but it may not help you...it depends on your symptoms...if your stomach pain and vomiting are caused by ulcers, then prevacid will DEFINATELY help. prevacid and other drugs like nexium and aciphex are h2 blockers, which means they block the acid in your stomach, thus creating less irritation to the ulcer...however, if your problems are not related to acid reflux or ulcers, then it probably won't do much...but it won't hurt you to take it either, so give it a try http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
